Memorial Day, What Does It Mean To You
My mom used to call it Decoration Day and I still do. We always used to decorate the graves of our loved ones who served and did not serve. I have several people in my family who have served our country with pride. My father was one of them. He did not die serving but he did serve with pride in the United States Army.
I miss him so much and it is nice to have a day to remember him, my mom and others who have died. I am glad that the day is about all of them now, too! But, I will not forget the real reason why it was set up!
Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. It originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union and the Confederate soldiers who died in the Civil War.
God Bless America and those who were killed and died serving our country and to keep us free!
Tell me what Memorial Day (Decoration Day) means to you!
