Are you ready for some... Metallica! The metal titans will be headlining the first rock show at the U.S. Bank Stadium, the brand new home of the NFL's Minnesota Vikings in Minneapolis. Before the team has a chance to play a regular season game on the new field, Metallica will be taking the stage on Aug. 20 with melodic rockers Avenged Sevenfold and the unique blend of rock, metal and rockabilly from Volbeat as part of the stadium's opening weekend festivities.

"We had such an amazing time playing in our hometown stadium the night before the Super Bowl that when asked we couldn't say 'no' to another chance to be part of a very special weekend," drummer Lars Ulrich states. Metallica headlined the 'Night Before' pre-Super Bowl 50 show in San Francisco, which saw the band raise the bar visually with an all new stage design.

The concert will mark one of only a few U.S. shows that Avenged Sevenfold are playing in 2016, and singer M. Shadows states, "We can't wait to see our friends in Minneapolis! Opening the new U.S. Bank Stadium would be an honor all on its own but having the opportunity to play with the mighty Metallica makes this a must see event. We've been cooped up in the studio for over a year and can't think of a better way to bust out than with all of you in Minneapolis."

"Volbeat are very thankful and beyond thrilled that our friends in Metallica have asked us to join them for the first rock concert at the U.S. Bank Stadium alongside Avenged Sevenfold," comments Volbeat frontman Michael Poulsen, adding, "We can't wait to see you all there."

Tickets will go on sale Friday, March 25, at 10AM local time, but Met Club (Metallica fan club) members will have the opportunity to scoop up tickets early starting at 8AM CT on March 22 through March 24 at 10PM. Avenged Sevenfold and Volbeat will be offering pre-sales of their own beginning on March 22 at 12PM through March 24 at 10PM. More information is available at Metallica's website.

Metallica have been hard at work on a new album over the last few months, giving small updates along the way. The biggest news came recently from Ulrich, who said, “I think it will be a pretty in-your-face year, at least the back half of it. Obviously, we’ve gotta finish the new record now. But thankfully we’re quite far along. Hopefully we should be able to knock that on the head this spring, I would guess. So we will be gearing up and playing shows and doing all that fun stuff again soon.”
