Music and sports go hand-in-hand. Every arena around the world floods their sound system with some of the most fist-pumping, energetic songs they can find to get the team and crowd fired up for the game. Metallica have been heard across sports arenas everywhere, most notably with their classic "Enter Sandman." The San Francisco Giants have taken it to a new level the past three years staging "Metallica Night" and they will be doing it once again in 2016.

For the fourth consecutive year, Metallica will throw out the first pitch at AT&T Park in San Francisco and perform the National Anthem. The special event will be held on May 6, 2016 against the Colorado Rockies with tickets going on sale Friday, Nov. 27 8AM PT as part of the team's Orange and Black Friday sale. Included in the package is a ticket to the game, a limited edition Metallica / Giants item which has yet to be revealed.

For those who are Met Club members (Metallica fan club), there is a special pre-sale starting 10AM PT today, Nov. 24.

In addition to the opening ceremonies, it looks like the guys might be up to more. The band stated on their website, "We’ll stick around all night to cheer on the orange and black with all the loyal fans and keep your eyes peeled to spot us participating in some in between inning action."

Metallica are not only supporting the San Francisco Giants, but the Virginia Tech Hokies football team as well. The college team has been walking out to "Enter Sandman" since 2000 and the thrashers have recorded a message for the team, their fans and their legendary coach Frank Beamer, who is retiring at the end of the year. The coach has been with the Hokies since 1979. Wishing for one more win, Lars Ulrich, James Hetfield and Robert Trujillo got together to tell everyone "Let's get jumpin'!" Check out the video below.

Metallica have been hard at work in the studio on a new album. Fans have been longing for the follow-up to 2008's Death Magnetic. Recently, guitarist Kirk Hammett stated, "It will most likely be in 2016, and at the very worst, at the beginning of 2017."
