Will Metallica ever collaborate with Lady Gaga again? It seems like the members of Metallica all have different answers to that question. The latest to weigh in is guitarist Kirk Hammett, who gave a “maybe” to the pop-meets-metal connection.

Metallica’s Grammy performance with Lady Gaga didn’t go as planned, with James Hetfield’s mic not working for a good portion of the live show. After the disappointment, which led to some serious tension backstage, fans wondered if another MetalliGaga event would happen to make up for the debacle.

So far, drummer Lars Ulrich seems adamant to work with Gaga again, calling her the “quintessential perfect fifth member of this band.” James Hetfield, however, stated that he isn’t interested in rehashing the idea for future performances. Just like in Some Kind of Monster, Hammett remains in the middle of his Metallica bandmates.

"I don't know what's gonna happen in the future, I think it's a bit of a stretch for us to say, 'Yeah, we're gonna do something in the future!’” Hammett told Radio Rock. "Maybe we will, maybe we won't. But we kind of have a lot on our plate right now."

Metallica have a ton of stuff planned for 2017, including a North American tour with support from Avenged Sevenfold, Volbeat and Gojira. The metal legends also just celebrated their latest album, Hardwired… To Self-Destruct attaining a rare platinum status from the RIAA.
