Surprising almost nobody, Minecraft PlayStation 3 Edition has sold over 1 million copies.

Mojang made an announcememt on its site, alerting everyone to the milestone. "Hope you are enjoying the picking and placing of blocks," Daniel Kaplan, Mojang's business developer, said. "Just wanted to let you know that Minecraft on PS3 recently sold over 1 million copies (that has to be some kind of record on PSN, no?). It is crazy considering the game was released just before Christmas last year."

He also says that he hopes the fans will like the future updates that Mojang has planned and that he will continue more on that subject in a later blog post. For now, let us all revel in Minecraft's enormous success on the PlayStation 3. We got that out of our system? Good. Now let's get back to the game. There's still no word on when PlayStation 4 or Xbox One versions of the popular title will arrive, but hopefully next-gen players won't have to wait long to join the millions already enjoying Minecraft on consoles.
