Here's a list of what is happening in Yakima today in rememberance of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Schedule will conclude with a peace march, speeches and a soup kitchen.

* All residents can assemble for the Yakima peace march at 11 a.m. at the Dollar Store on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and 5th Avenue. The march starts at 12:oo noon, heads east on MLK, turns right on 8th St. continuing to the Yakima Convention Center, where the speeches and program will be held. 1,200 people attended the event in 2011.

* Then, at 2:00 o'clock, the sixth annual MLK Day soup kitchen will be held at the Southeast Community Center at 1211 S. 7th St.

* This year, a rememberance will occur for the second year in Toppenish.  Participants can meet at 10 a.m. at the Toppenish Market Place grocery store at 512 W. 1sr Ave. The march starts at 10:30 a.m. and proceeds to Toppenish Middle School, where presentations and speeches will begin at 11:15 a.m.
