• Two shareholder resolutions were rejected during Monsanto’s annual shareholders meeting.

    One sought a report on seed contamination of non-GMO crops including costs of seed replacement and crop and production losses. The second resolution called on Monsanto to work with government regulators to set a standard threshold for foods containing GMO ingredients that should be labeled.

  • The Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) urged a reversal of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposal to lower the 2014 Renewable Fuel Standard Renewable Volume Obligations.

    RFA’s Bob Dinneen expressed that the group is strongly opposed to the proposal and encouraged EPA to reconsider the proposal and finalize the requirement for renewable fuel at the level set by Congress which is 14.4-billion gallons.

  • Another undercover video led USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service to pull its inspectors from a veal processing plant in New Jersey and shutting the plant down. According to USDA - the video shows two egregious violations of federal law.
