Friday night's Music in the Park benefit for local musician Wayman Chapman was over the top! Thanks to local musicians Stimulus Package and the Joe Brooks Quartet, along with the Brumback Law Group and the people of Yakima, the concert at Franklin Park raised more than $3,200 toward Chapman's hospital bills. That is amazing!

Conditions were blustery for the show, but the performers and the audience toughed it out for the sake of a beloved musical friend.

Chapman, who’s been a fixture around the Yakima Valley for years, suffered a medical emergency this spring and had to be airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He’s since endured a grueling recovery that’s included extensive specialized care and a lengthy hospital stay.

That, in turn, has meant staggering medical bills, and as a self-employed musician, Chapman is self-insured and struggling to come up with the thousands of dollars he owes for his treatment.

The Go Fund Me account in his name currently has more than $11,000 of its $20,000 goal, but Chapman's debt is astronomical.

If you know Wayman, you knows he’s an amazing person and musician. Now's the time for the community to pay him back for all that great music over the years.
