The Wildlife Conservation Society, Intertribal Buffalo Council, National Bison Association, and dozens of bison-friendly businesses and groups around the country are celebrating the second annual National Bison Day on Saturday, November 2. The U.S. Senate passed a resolution on October 29 that officially recognizes National Bison Day for the historical, economic, ecological and cultural contributions of bison across the American landscape.

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources will conduct two lease auctions for lands in the desirable Wahluke Slope. It has an American Viticultural Area designation, and irrigated crop lands in the area are highly desirable for production of wine grapes, orchard, and row crops.

Oregon’s Congressman Kurt Schrader is one of the House conferee’s for the Farm Bill negotiation and is a member of the House Ag committee. He was a part of the first meeting of the Farm Bill Conference Committee and says that the mood was a reconcilable one with most members confining themselves to discussing areas of interest to them and enumerating some of the difficulties that they’re going to face in a few of the areas.
