If you're like me, you have Netflix. I also have home cable and may even visit the local video store or Redbox on occasion, but I like to have options. Netflix first started out as a DVD-by-mail system, then added their streaming service to the plan. Now that more and more people are streaming movies from their Xbox 360, Wii, Playstation 3, Blu Ray player and right through their computer, they've seen an even divide from people who stream and people who get DVDs via mail. Here are their new plans. I wanted to let you know because I do both but now that their new plan seperates them individually, I may just drop one, or both. Here's what they're talking about on their blog.

First, we are launching new DVD only plans. These plans offer our lowest prices ever for unlimited DVDs – only $7.99 a month for our 1 DVD out at-a-time plan and $11.99 a month for our 2 DVDs out at-a-time plan.

Granted, these are the lowest prices they've ever offered for this service, but when you add streaming to the mix, that's when you might be paying more than you currently are.

Plan 1: Unlimited Streaming (no DVDs) for $7.99 a month
Plan 2: Unlimited DVDs, 1 out at-a-time (no streaming), for $7.99 a month.

The price for getting both of these plans will be $15.98 a month ($7.99 + $7.99). For new members, these changes are effective immediately; for existing members, the new pricing will start for charges on or after September 1, 2011.

So, if you're new to Netflix this actually may be better for you but, to me, I'll be paying more than I currently am. Just thought I should let you know before you get a surprise increase you weren't aware of.
