O.J. Found Not Guilty 17 Years Ago

17 years ago today, people in the Northwest were reveling in the stunning victory the Seattle Mariners had pulled off against the California Angels less than 24 hours earlier to advance to the playoffs for the first time in their history.

As folks gathered around the water cooler the next morning, attention was quickly shifted when word that the jury seated in the "Trial of the Century" had come to a verdict after a months long trial.
Nearly HALF of all Americans tuned in to see the verdict read and to find out the fate of football star O.J. Simpson, who was charged with double murder.

I distinctly remember EVERY employee at the radio station gathered around a T.V. that had temporarily been set-up in the hallway for all to see.  Needless to say, the majority of my co-workers, along with much of America, were stunned when the result was announced.
