Papa Roach Announce New Album Release Date
Papa Roach teased a big announcement earlier this week and delivered the news during a live chat on their website earlier today (June 14). The band revealed that their next album will arrive on Oct. 2.
The boys settled in via webcam and gave fans a little info on their upcoming record. At this point, the disc is still untitled, but bassist Tobin Esperance joked that that was nothing new for the group, who tend to go down to the wire on the final details.
Esperance added that the band recorded at their home studio in Sacramento and basically lived out of the recording area 24/7 while completing the disc. He laughed about how the band laid down 20 tracks, cut it down to 12, and then decided to write five more.
Singer Jacoby Shaddix said the final track listing will probably include 10 or 11 cuts, and he ran down a few of his favorites. ‘Before I Die’ seems to be a consensus favorite amongst the members, with Shaddix revealing that it has electronic-programmed verses with big rock choruses. He also raved about a song they recorded with John Feldmann called ‘Still Swinging,’ which he stated was “one of the most fiery P-Roach songs” ever and could be their lead single.
Other songs name checked during the chat included the heavy-hitting ‘Where Did the Angels Go,’ a song called ‘Wish You Never Met Me’ that was produced by Sixx: A.M.‘s James Michael; ‘Not That Beautiful’ featuring guest vocalist Shanaz; and ‘Leader of the Broken Hearts,’ a track Shaddix says was initially influenced by their past favorite, ‘Forever.’
Shaddix admitted that this album comes from a difficult time for him. The musician stated that he got sober during the making of the record and also dealt with his wife leaving him. He added, “We wanted to make a dynamic and explosive record that captures the raw emotions of life. We also wanted to incorporate the biological sounds of rock with a digital edge to have a fresh sound. This is our own version of what we think the radio should sound like. This is the soundtrack to my life and once again I went through some dark s— and came through thanks to the music.”
