When Pearl Jam were named as one of this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, there were many who were surprised not to see drummer Dave Abbruzzese's name mentioned among the inductees, including the drummer himself, who has been vocal about his exclusion. But Pearl Jam are hoping that Abbruzzese, along with all of the band's drumming alums, will join them at the ceremony when they enter the Rock Hall.

It's a sticky situation that inevitably comes up around this time every year. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducts a new class, but not all alumni of the chosen acts end up having their names included, especially when it comes to acts who have had a number of lineup changes. It typically ends up being the members of the most celebrated or longest running lineup who are inducted.

In a handwritten note posted to their social media, Pearl Jam state, "While awards and accolades are understandably subjective and a countless number of our peers have yet to be honored, we do feel fortunate to be recognized and provided the opportunity to reunite with everyone who has been part of the group -- specifically the drummers who all left their distinctive mark on our band in the pre-Matt Cameron years."

They continue, "Dave Krusen, Matt Chamberlain, Dave Abbruzzese and Jack Irons are each individually great players who gave their all to the early recordings and live gigs. Looking forward to seeing them and all the other musicians on the bill. Have to say, wish H.R. and Perry Farrell were gonna be there too. If nothing else, it makes us feel luck and appreciative to the end. The beat goes on -- P.J." See the message below.

Pearl Jam will be inducted by Neil Young at the April 7 ceremony at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. The other inductees this year include Journey, Joan Baez, ELO, Yes and Tupac Shakur.
