Since reuniting in 2004, new material from the Pixies has been scarce. The influential alt rock band has only released two new songs since their reunion — an original track called ‘Bam Thwok’ and a cover of Warren Zevon’s ‘Ain’t That Pretty At All’ –  despite a successful world tour. Now it seems Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell let the cat out of the bag that the Pixies are finally working on new material.

As Slicing Up Eyeballs reports, Farrell responded to a fan on Twitter who told him, “@perryfarrell back in the day the cool kids at my high school it was all about Jane’s Addiction and the Pixies. Farrell tweeted back, “Still is Pixies r recording.” Despite being pressed for more information, the ‘Jane Says’ singer has kept silent since then.

This would support statements made from guitarist Joey Santiago and drummer David Lovering last year that the group planned to record a new album.

The Pixies haven’t released an album since 1991′s ‘Trompe le Monde’ before breaking up two years later due to growing tension in the band. After rumors began to surface of a reunion in the works, they made it official in 2004. The group launched a sold-out world tour in the following years, including a 20th anniversary trek to celebrate the 1989 release of their classic ‘Doolittle’ album.
