Pippins Playoff Tickets are Hot Sellers [VIDEO]

The hottest thing in town this week isn't the weather. It's tickets to the Yakima Valley Pippins' first playoff game Tuesday night against the Bellingham Bells.

As of today, tickets were still available ... but going fast.

"I've only been in the office for about 90 minutes this morning and the phone has been ringing non-stop," Pippins play-by-play broadcaster and media relations coordinator Ryan Rouillard said in an email. "If we don't sell out, it should be darn close."

The team is encouraging fans to buy tickets early for two reasons. First, to assure availability. And second, to help fans avoid long lines at the game.

Prices are the same as regular season tickets -- $5, $6 and $7 in advance, or $6, $7 and $8 at the box office. Order online at PippinsBaseball.com or by phone, 509-575-4487.

The Pippins closed out the regular season Sunday night with a 4-1 win over the Wenatchee AppleSox that brought Yakima's regular-season record to 35-19 -- the most wins by an expansion team in West Coast League history.

As the WCL's East Division champions, the Pippins now face the Bellingham Bells, who won the West Division champion with a league-best record of 37-17. The teams play a best-of-three series with Game 1 here. The next game (and a third, if needed) would be in Bellingham later this week.

Meantime, the wild card Bend Elks (31-23) square off with South Division champion Corvallis (35-19).

First pitch at Yakima County Stadium is at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, with pregame coverage beginning at 6:55 on 1460 ESPN Yakima.
