Duck Hunt is one of the all-time classic video games. The rules are simple -- shoot the duck before it flies away. If it does, the dog laughs at you. Duck Hunt was made semi-popular again recently when word got out that the controller plugged in could control the ducks (it was in the manual that nobody read) but that's not what this is about. It's not possible to play Duck Hunt on a new LCD TV.

How the light gun works for NES is that when you pull the trigger, the target becomes a white square for a fraction of a second. Your light gun reads the white box and counts it as being hit if your aim is proper. It's like those old light gun shooting galleries but the bullseye in this case is your Zapper. It was optimized for old tube TVs. Now that technology has advanced so much, the gun doesn't recognize the square and read it as anything. To play light gun games, you'd still need a CRT.

Some awesome people at NES LCD MOD have altered the rom to allow for more of a delay so your light gun can get a better reading of it, basically, making it work again. The other problem is it's not quite working for any Zapper just yet. There is a 3rd party light gun for NES that has worked and I've tested personally with great success, but it's still not perfect.

Give it time and they should have something finalized and up and running. I grabbed some video of me testing it out.
