Poison’s Rikki Rockett Is Officially Cancer Free
In June 2015, Rockett found himself ill. After visiting doctors and receiving no answers, the drummer was told he had a cancerous tumor on the base of his tongue. Back in December 2015, Rockett revealed he had received numerous rounds of chemotherapy and dozens of rounds of radiation treatment.
Signs were pointing to remission at the end of last year, but Rikki just shared with fans he’s now cancer free:
Rockett beat cancer through experimental immunotherapy, a treatment which boosts the body’s natural defenses to fight the cancer. It used substances either made by the body or in a laboratory to improve or restore immune system function. “For any of us that’s ever gone through cancer, we know how scary it can be, and when you’re going through a new type of treatment, that’s even scarier,” Rockett told the San Diego Union-Tribune. “My goal is to help people make the decision to try immunotherapy, because the side effects are so much less, and you feel so much better doing it, and you can get rid of your cancer without doing super-invasive stuff, in a lot of cases. So I’m a big proponent.”
Congrats to Rikki Rockett and continued great health to the drummer!
