Presidents Day Soundtrack
There aren't many great rock songs about former presidents, which makes celebrating the birthdays of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln extremely difficult.
About the only ones I can come up with are Dion's melancholy "Abraham, Martin and John" (which includes a non-president) or Tony Joe White's "Polk Salad Annie" written, I think, for 11th POTUS James K. Polk.
Thank goodness for The Presidents Of The United States Of America -- a Seattle-based band that shot to fame in the mid-'90s with such quirky tunes as "Kitty," "Peaches" and the infectious "Lump."
Enjoy your day off and happy Presidents Day!
