The “typical Athens story” that turned out to be not so typical for rock legends R.E.M. has been documented in its entirety in the new film, ‘R.E.M. by MTV.' If you can't wait to see it when it airs on MTV later this month, the band has announced screening dates across the country.

The documentary -- you can watch the trailer above -- will be shown on Nov. 18 at nine theaters across the U.S., with more theaters to be added. Each showing will be held at 7PM in each of the cities -- see the full list of locations below.

MTV played a major role in the band’s growth, from R.E.M.’s sky rocket to success in the early ‘80s all the way to their breakup in 2011. The documentary captures everything in-between, including award show appearances, live performances and archival footage. Catch it in one of cities below or check here for additional locations.
