Talk about a new album from Rammstein is almost as old and tired as the chatter about Tool's longer-awaited follow-up to 2006's 10,000 Days. Fans have been waiting since 2009's Liebe ist fur alle da for new material and if guitarist Paul Landers is to be believed, a new record will finally be out next year.

In June, a description on the ticket page for Rammstein's two New Year's Eve and January 2 shows claimed the album would be released by the end of the year and in mid-September, the band posted an image from the studio exclaiming, "Almost done!" Speaking with Music Radar, Landers confirmed, “Right now, it looks like this new record will be coming out next Spring."

Describing the writing process, the guitarist elaborated, "What we’ve been mainly doing is playing together in a circle with all the guys in one room. We all go into the mixing desk and I had my PL1 prototype [the guitarist's signature Fly Rig pedal] going direct. Same for the some of the other guys - our drummer [Christoph Schneider] has these electronic drums, so we’ve been using that to play a bunch of ideas together."

Landers explained that Rammstein's pre-production is usually done "where each member is alone," but this time they've "decided to make the record more of a band-unit recording than a bunch of guys playing separately." He insists, "the basic idea is you are hearing a band playing… you could say it’s inspired by our live sound. That’s exactly what we’re going for."

While the wait for a new album appears to be over soon, the next question fans will ponder is if this will be Rammstein's last record. Guitarist Richard Kruspe said he felt like it will be the last album the band makes.
