Dec. 8, 2014 marks the 10th anniversary of Pantera / Damageplan guitarist ‘Dimebag’ Darrell Abbott‘s tragic death. In remembrance of the guitar great, we’ve spoken to rock and metal’s greatest musicians to gather stories and testimonies of admiration towards the immortal shredder.

In the clip above, Mastodon drummer Brann Dailor speaks about the incredible influence that Pantera had on heavy metal music. "It's part of the wheel as far as the evolution of heavy music," says Dailor. "It's a big pillar that defined the genre. When they came out in the late '80s / early '90s, it was all anybody was listening to. They got seated right up there with Metallica, so it was a big influence on everybody that was playing heavy music."

Dailor and 'Loudwire Nights' host Full Metal Jackie speak about the legacy left behind and the drummer concludes, "It's really sad that he left, but he left us with so much."
