Review – ‘Rock Of Ages’ Rocks the Capitol Theater

Last night I had the opportunity to see the Broadway production of the Tony award nominated musical "Rock of Ages" on its first of a two night run at Yakima's legendary Capitol Theater.

If you, like me, are child of the 80's and were weened on hair metal - RUN! Don't walk! - to get your tickets for tonight's show (7:30 PM)

The soundtrack is a veritable greatest hits of the decade.  My wife and I had fun trying to 'name that tune' every time the fictional band Arsenal would kick into a new song.  I scored first when the show opened with one of my favorite David Lee Roth tunes, "Just Like Paradise."  Needless to say, we knew every word to every song by heart!

(I will warn those that are on the prudish side, there is plenty of four-letter words, sexual innuendo and LOADS of scantily clad ladies in fishnet stockings, garters and bustiers.)

The Capitol was packed and the audience gave the cast a standing ovation at the conclusion of the show which closed with a stirring rendition of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin.'"

If you are looking for "Nothin' But A Good Time" in Yakima tonight, I highly recommend checking out "Rock of Ages."
