Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2017 Induction Ceremony’s Best Photos

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame‘s 2017 induction ceremony is in the books, and we’ve got great photographs of Journey, Yes, Electric Light Orchestra, Joan Baez and Pearl Jam being inducted and playing their music.

It was a night full of powerful performances and emotional moments, from Steve Perry returning to accept his award alongside Neal Schon and the rest of his former bandmates, to Geddy Lee filing in for the recently departed Chris Squire as the surviving members of Yes‘ classic lineup performed together for the first time in over 10 years.

Baez proved herself to be a very adept comic, bringing down the house with a story about how her granddaughter only learned about her star power with some help from Taylor Swift. Electric Light Orchestra paid tribute to Chuck Berry to open the show, and Lenny Kravitz also honored the memory of Prince with performances of “When Doves Cry” and “The Cross.” Oh, and Rick Wakeman embarked on what must be the first “keytar solo while walking through the audience” in Rock Hall history.

David Letterman may have filled in for Neil Young on short notice, but his speech inducting Pearl Jam was both heartfelt and full of his trademark wit. Pearl Jam thanked not just the classic rock got that influenced them to pick up their instruments, but also the many indie and punk bands that have not yet been recognized by the Hall.

The 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will air on HBO Saturday, April 29.
