With the Moxee Hop Festival barely a week away, the festival's royal court is getting ready for one of the best parts of the annual community event: the crowning of Miss East Valley this Saturday (Aug. 1).

The royalty will showcase their talents, model evening gowns and take onstage questions during the pageant, which starts at 4 p.m. at the Capitol Theatre in Yakima. (Admission is $12 in advance, $15 at the door.)

This year's court includes:

  • Queen Brielle Sharp
  • First Princess Emma Johnson
  • Second Princess Alyssa Cuevas
  • Third Princess Emma Spellman
  • Universal Princess Codi Jones

Admission to the Miss East Valley Scholarship Pageant is $12 in advance, $15 at the door. Tickets are available online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/1621257.

If you can't make it to the pageant, don't fret! The royalty will also be present next Friday (Aug. 7) for their "Royalty Presentation" at 7:30 p.m. in Moxee City Park as the Moxee Hop Festival opens.

As usual, the festival is full of family fun and excitement starting at 5 p.m. Aug. 7 and extending all day Aug. 8.

The fun includes food and craft vendors, pony rides, the sixth annual barbecue cookoff, a 5K family fun run, breakfast in the park, a street dance, karaoke and music in the spacious beer garden!

Friday night features the X-Band at 6:30, followed by the modern rock of The Hipsters at 8:30. To top it all off Saturday evening, Crush will perform followed by Ten Souljers out of Vancouver, British Columbia.
