When the Seattle Seahawks hit the field for their home opener against the San Francisco 49'ers on NBC's Sunday night football telecast, more than just the outcome of a contest be determined.

There just may be a new entry in the Guiness Book of World Records.

A group unaffiliated with the team who call themselves 'Volume 12' have had their entry accepted to attempt and have documented the "loudest crowd roar at a sports stadium" by the famed folks at Guinness.

The current record is held by Turk Telecom Arena in Istanbul, Turkey. During a soccer match between Galatasaray SC and Fenerbahce SC, the crowd hit 131 decibels.  The Hawks have documented an official mark of 112 decibels on their website.

If you have never attended a game at Century Link Field, here is a taste of just how loud it can get.
