Seattle head coach Pete Carroll says the Seahawks' starting center is going to try and practice when the team gets back on the field Wednesday.

Unger has been out with knee and ankle injuries he suffered in a Nov. 16 game against Kansas City.

"He's going for it," Carroll said during his Monday news conference. "He's had some pretty good workouts and all. We don't know what that means until he gets out there and starts doing it. But he's going to take it as far as he can and he's going to try and see if he can get ready this week."

Updating team injuries, Carroll reported on the two players injured against Philadelphia, cornerback Tharold Simon and defensive lineman Demarcus Dobbs. Simon suffered a finger injury and Carroll said that he would be back against San Francisco. He said Dobbs sustained a "pretty legit" ankle injury.

The coach said tight end Cooper Helfet, out the past two games, would try to practice this week and that defensive back Jeremy Lane will practice this week.
