Seahawks Crack Top Five in This Week’s NFL Power Rankings

Seattle's 24-14 win and defensive dominance in Philadelphia put's the team back among the league's elite. 

The Associated Press puts the Seahawks at No. 3 after the victory over the Eagles.

At NFL.com, Elliott Harrison has Seattle moving up to fourth place.

Some 24-14 games are actually close deals, but the Seahawks' win in Philadelphia was not. Although it was interesting listening to Eagles fans boo when Seattle cornerback Tharold Simon's injury stopped the game in the fourth quarter, thereby slowing Philly's fast-paced offense. You see, they really wanted to watch Mark Sanchez hurry up and throw another 3-yard pass.

 

 

Dan Schneier at Fox Sports also puts the Seahawks at No. 4.

The defense is flying to the ball on underneath patterns and doing the best job in the NFL of limiting yards after the catch. There are still question marks on the offensive line in pass protection, but Russell Wilson’s ability to extend plays with his feet and take designed runs for big gains has been clutch.

 

 

The team of analysts at ESPN says Seattle is at No. 4 as well.

The NFC's on notice -- Seattle's defense is officially back.  For the third straight game, the Seahawks held their opponent to season lows in points and yards.

 

 

Finally, Pete Prisco at CBS Sports has the Seahawks in the No. 5 slot.

That defense is back to being dominant again, showing up the Philadelphia offense Sunday. Russell Wilson also played well against the Eagles.

 

 

The Seahawks host the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday in Seattle.
