After spotting the Chargers a 3-0 lead in the first quarter, the Seattle Seahawks used a stingy defense and strong special teams to win their first 2013 pre season game Thursday night in San Diego.

The Chargers took the opening kickoff and drove 74 yards in 13 plays to a 28-yard field goal by Nick Novak.

The Seahawks scored with 1:56 left in the first half on an 11-yard pass from quarterback Brady Quinn to former Washington Husky Jermaine Kearse. Kicker Steven Hauschka's 61-yard field goal attempt hit the crossbar on the half's final play.

Quarterback Tavaris Jackson had two touchdown passes in the game and rookie Christine Michael rushed for 89-yards for Seattle.
