Seahawks Rank Among Worlds’ Most Valuable Sports Franchises

Forbes Magazine recently ranked the 50 most valuable sports franchises, and the Seahawks were ranked fairly high.

When it comes to rankings, Seattle usually rates pretty high when it comes to things like scenery, high tech savvy, and literacy.

Not so much when it comes to sports.

So, it was surprising when Forbes ranked the Seattle Seahawks as #25 among the worlds’ most valuable sports franchises.

Topping off the list are a bunch of European soccer teams and, yes, the New York Yankees. But when you click past all the teams from big U.S. cities like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Houston, you suddenly come across the Seahawks.

Forbes estimated that the Seahawks, owned by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, are worth $997 million as a franchise. Here’s what Forbes had to say about the team.

In March, the Seahawks inked Matt Flynn, who was one of the most sought after free agent quarterbacks in 2012. Career backup Flynn raised his value when he threw for six touchdowns and 480 yards in the final game of the Packers season, when Aaron Rodgers sat out. Flynn’s deal is worth $26 million over three years.
