Seahawks Still Reign in Most of This Week’s NFL Power Rankings

Coming off of a bye week after beating the Broncos in Week 3, Seattle still ranks at or near the top of this week’s rankings.

The experts at ESPN say the Seahawks are at the summit.

All four of Kirk Cousins’ interceptions came outside the numbers Thursday. Since the start of 2013, no one has more picks on those throws than the Seahawks.

Dan Schneier at Fox Sports has the Seahawks at No.1.

The early bye week is not ideal for a team looking to build momentum, but it might allow them to install some new packages for an offense that hasn’t looked as efficient over the last two games. The defending champions boast a dominant defensive line with the depth to withstand injuries and arguably the best secondary in the league.

Pat Kirwan at CBS Sports agrees.

On a bye last week but the win over the Broncos keeps them in the top spot and as a matter of fact my top three teams were all on a bye last week so nothing has changed.

His colleague, Pete Prisco, doesn’t. He has Seattle at No. 3.

They continue to be who they are: A strong defense with an offense that controls the football and doesn’t turn it over.

Elliott Harrison at puts the Seahawks at No. 4

As I mentioned above, many people were frustrated over the Seahawks not being No. 1 after hanging on in Week 3 to beat the Broncos in OT (thanks, in part, to a coin flip). I guess losses mean nothing anymore? For the record, I have Seattle returning to the Super Bowl. That said, in the Power Rankings, we can only call what we see to this point. All told, a top-five slot right now is really a testament to how solid Pete Carroll‘s roster really is. The ‘Hawks aren’t playing their best football. What happens when they do?
