The Mariners ace right-hander was selected to start baseball's Mid-Summer Classic by American League manager John Farrell.

The 2014 All-Star Game will take place at Minnesota's Target Field. Hernandez gets the start opposite the National League's Adam Wainwright of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Hernandez, 28, becomes the first M’s pitcher to start the Midsummer Classic since Randy Johnson took the hill in 1995 and 1997.

“King Felix” has an 11-2 record with 2.12 ERA in 20 starts, striking out 154 batters while walking only 25.

Seattle second baseman Robinson Cano was voted a starter by the fans, while third baseman Kyle Seager was named to the team as an injury replacement last week. On Saturday, relief pitcher Fernando Rodney was named to the American League squad, pushing the Mariners' contingent on the team to four.
