A recent study finds Selah is the fifth safest city in Washington -- Tri-Cities and Yakima failed to make the top 10.

The study, by Value Penguin, considered numerous factors in determining the state's safest large, midsize and small cities.

Here are the four towns that rated even safer than Selah:

1. Sammamish

This town is about a 40-minute drive outside of Seattle ... which by the way did not make the list.

2. Duvall

Duvall has slightly over 7,000 people, and the police there keep it nice and safe.

3. Snoqualmie

This growing city has just over 12,000 people, but considering its outdoor options and its proximity to Seattle, folks must have enough to do to keep them out of trouble.

4. Ridgefield

Ridgefield is the smallest city of the top five, so it makes sense that it is safe.

5. Selah

We think Selah is the cutest town of the top five. The schools are amazing and the police obviously protect the community from crime.
