A gunman has killed at least seven people and wounded 20 in a shooting spree on a community college campus in southern Oregon, authorities and numerous news outlets say.

The Oregonian's Oregon Live site is providing live updates, but the shooter is down and The Associated Press says the threat has ended.

According to the New York Times, the shooting began at about 10:30 a.m. today (Oct. 1) at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Ore. The campus remained on lockdown for several hours.
