Slayer's Tom Araya caused a bit of an uproar last year Photoshopping an image of Donald Trump into the band's lineup. The Trump post was eventually taken down from the group's Instagram account, but not without Araya showing his disappointment in the reaction that something he thought was funny had caused such an angry response. Araya is once again dipping his toes in the political arena, this time posting via his own Instagram account and offering a conservative vs. liberal comparison with a bit of humor, but also opening it up for discussion.

Some of the commentary in the missive includes: “If a conservative doesn’t like guns, he doesn’t buy one. If a liberal doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed,” “If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat. If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone" and “If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it. A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.” The full posting can be seen below.

While the post appears to take its shot at liberals, Araya appeared interested in sparking discussion and taking in all viewpoints on the subjects brought up. He captioned the post, "With all the crazy shit going on I have to ask. I sit on the fence of reason. Comments and opinions [are] welcomed." As you might expect, the posting drew plenty of response, especially given the current heightened political climate as we head toward the mid-term elections next week.

The Slayer vocalist did offer thumbs up to two comments within the thread, with one responder offering, "I don’t think fair to say of liberals nor correct of all conservatives either. I’m on the fence too and I’ve seen interventionists on both sides and as well those respectful of other’s choices on both sides. But that’s just me," while he also supported another commenter who added, "This would make me conservative though although I’m not? Not all liberals are crybabys [sic] although sadly there are the radicals who ruin it for everyone.”

Araya's Slayer bandmate, guitarist Gary Holt, also weighed in the post, stating, "Not to mention any critical comment on our current president is met with fury not laughs," and later responding to a commenter on the thread adding, "I know a lot of conservatives who work at Waffle House or Denny’s would like to know where this employee sponsored health care is! Or how they can afford it working at Walmart selling patriotic goods made overseas!"
