Southpaws Unite! Today is National Lefthanders Day
As a lefty myself, I am always extolling the virtues of those of us who are in our right mind as well as pointing out the injustice of the fact that we are, arguably, the only minority group in America that gets NO preferential treatment.
This why I was so excited to find out that, unbeknownst to me, there is actually a day dedicated to the part of the population that uses their left hand to perform the majority of major tasks, and that day is today!
Lefties only make about 10% of the population. Why? Now one knows for sure exactly. (I blogged about it about a year ago)
There are many little known facts about lefties but maybe the most surprising is that three out of the last four Presidents of the United States have been lefties (George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama).
Not only that, but many of the best and brightest in their fields are left-handed:
Babe Ruth, Albert Einstein, Bill Gates, Jimi Hendrix and Leonardo da Vinci, Phil Mickelson to name a few.
Although we may be small in number, we more that make up for it with our quirky, creative excellence!
Cheers to all of my fellow lefties on this day!
