Spin Magazine Releases Free Downloads of Nirvana Cover Album, ‘Newermind’

Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind’ is lauded as one of the most important albums of the past few decades and its 20th anniversary is fast-approaching (feel old yet?). To celebrate, Spin magazine is releasing an unusual — and free — tribute.

It’s called ‘Newermind,’ and it’s a digital-only collection of ‘Nevermind’ covers, with a different artist handling each track from the diamond-certified seminal album — including appearances by two of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain’s favorite acts, the Vaselines (who cover ‘Lithium’) and the Meat Puppets (who take on ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’).
