I was so expecting "Nerd Wood" on Friday! I was expecting it for a long, long time! It's been forever since a new "Star Wars" movie, and as much as I liked "The Clone Wars" cartoons and look forward to see what they are doing with the new "Rebels" episodes, the movie, "Episode VII, THE FORCE AWAKENS," was where it was at for me! But was it worth it?

Six a.m. Friday ... I hopped on my computer and witnessed it in all its glory! The full 1:38 trailer! I watched! I saw the deserts of Tatooine, A MASKLESS STORM TROOPER! HOLY CRAP!!!! Little CGI, where in the past it was WAY overdone. X-Wings, Black Robed Bad Guy ... RED LIGHTSABER ... HANDLE GUARD BLADES!!!! MILLENNIUM FALCON! YES YES YES ... and then no. Nothing ... sadness. Why?

I did just see the trailer for a movie franchise that I've loved since the day I was born and mistook my grandmother for Yoda. I should have been giddy with excitement and anticipation. But I just felt... meh. "Dumb & Dumber To's" trailer had me laughing and planning my recycling pop can schedule just so I'd have enough to see it opening day. But why did this one not give me the feeling? What could it have done to make me more excited?

I know I'm not the only one to feel this way. Yes, EVERYONE seems grateful for the new trailer. I mean, HELL YEAH it's FINALLY HAPPENING! But many of my friends felt the same way I did.

After forcing my wife to do a mega marathon of "Star Wars" (Episodes I-VI with the Holiday Special, Clone Wars movie, & Ewok Adventures in their proper place) WHICH SHE NOW HATES ME FOR ... I can now put my finger on it. I was so excited that they were getting a majority of the actors/actress and characters back for the new film. We should have seen at least one of them! It would have connected it with the original. Two perfect opportunities. At the scene with the Millennium Falcon would it have been so bad to hear Han yell "yahoo" or at the end when the trailer is done you hear a faint lightsaber sound, you should have seen a green glow light up a bearded Luke face in a hood. Just the thought gives me back the Nerd Wood I feel I was robbed of on Friday.

Was I expecting too much? I know it's a teaser, and I know by the time the film comes out next year we will have so many trailers that we'll have seen 90 percent of the movie, but I just felt like for a first tease we should have gotten a little nostalgia with it as well.
