The Yakima Herald-Republic recently reported that 86-year-old Paul McCulloh had found a mysterious suitcase in the storage unit he had rented for years. The suitcase wasn't his, but it contained a treasure trove of a family's memories -- photos, ashes of a pet dog, books and other mementos.

The Herald posted a photo of the suitcase's contents on their website in hopes that someone would come forward to claim the perplexing suitcase. No one had a clue as to how it wound up McCulloh's storage unit.

Weird as it sounds, I had kind of a similar experience back in the 1980s.

One winter, I had to leave my car parked at Park City Utah Ski Resort on account of a snowstorm. It was a crazy night and normally I would have taken the canyon in Utah back to my home, which was then Wyoming. The car stayed there for three days before I could go back with chains to put on my tires and retrieve it.

But when I got in my car to warm it up, I found a blanket, pillow and a backpack in the back seat! I admit it, it kind of freaked me out. I took the contents into the Park City Lodge just in case someone came back for their possessions.

I never found out what happened to the stuff or who it might've belonged to. (I DID mention it was '80s, right? HA!)
