There are still a few months left in 2016, but festival season never truly ends. As such, we're starting to get an idea as to who will play at some of 2017's bigger festivals, including one of the highlights of the European festival season -- the annual Rock am Ring and Rock im Park festivals in Germany.

The initial lineups for the festivals have been revealed, with the lineup for the two music events typically flipping over the same music weekend. The Rock im Park festival will be held June 2-4 in Nuremberg, Germany, while Rock am Ring is set for June 2-4 in Mendig, Germany.

At present, System of a Down and German punk legends Die Toten Hosen set atop the bill at both festival events, with Prophets of Rage, In Flames, Airbourne, Pierce the Veil, Beartooth, Sleeping With Sirens and Motionless in White also booked to play both shows over the weekend.

Both festivals offer an eclectic lineup though harder music tends to dominate. You'll also find such names as Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Bastille and a number of more regional European favorite acts also on the bill.

Stay tuned to the Rock am Ring and Rock im Park websites for additional lineup and ticketing information.
