Yakima Bears Set To Come Out Of Hibernation For 23rd (Final?) Season

After a tumultuous offseason, the Yakima Bears are counting down to their 23rd season in town.
            “We’re focused on 2012,” said General Manager K.L. Wombacher who also indicated that the team’s energy is aimed towards a successful season.
            WIth the spectre of moving to Vancouver and a new stadium hanging over the heads of the team, the Bears finished last season 33-43, but were 22-16 at home.

Little League Pitcher Saved by His Cap [VIDEO]

In a Friday game at the Little League World Series, Huntington Beach, California pitcher Braydon Salzman was almost smacked in the forehead with a line-drive ball. It would’ve surely been a scary event (just ask this minor leaguer) — were it not for the brim of his ball cap.

While the impact did knock Salzman to the ground, slow-motion replay shows his cap’s bill took the brunt of the impact, leaving a noticeable dent.

Fan Who Gave Back Ball from Derek Jeter’s 3,000th Hit Could Face Between $5,000 and $13,000 in Taxes

When Christian Lopez caught the home run that was Derek Jeter's 3,000th hit last week, he gave the historic ball to the Yankee's shortstop without asking for any money, even though it may have fetched over $100,000 on the open market.
