I grew up watching The Hobbit cartoon back when I'd check the VHS tape out of the library. It wasn't completely weird that it was full of songs when they had movies like this back then. If you read The Hobbit, even the book features songs and lyrics that the dwarves sing. To get you ready for the new movie, here's the old Hobbit animated movie in it's entirety.
