With the Seattle Mariners re-signing James "Big Maple" Paxton, it got me thinking of other sports stars that carry a nickname that includes the moniker "Big". Here are some of my favorites with a surprising disproportionate amount of them having played for Seattle sports franchises.

The most surprising team, thus far, as it relates to the 2018 MLB season, is clearly the Seattle Mariners. Today they were rewarded with that by getting three of their players tabbed to the AL All-Star team.

Prior to yesterday's home opener for the Minnesota Twins, Seattle Mariners starting pitcher James Paxton - a native of Canada nicknamed "Big Maple" - was the target of an American Bald Eagle that may have taken umbrage to a foreigner on the diamond of America's National Pastime.
