The WSDOT urges you to plan ahead if you are doing any traveling during the holiday weekend and have come up with a handy checklist to help you avoid headaches
The WSDOT has begun road improvements on I-90 east of Snoqualmie Pass this week. As such, motorists are being warned to anticipate delays and be aware of work zones throughout the summer.
If you have studded tires on your vehicle, you only have through Friday, March 31st to remove them or face a $136 fine. Even visitors to the state are not exempt and no waivers or exemptions to the law are issued either.
According to the Washington State Department of Transportation:
"I-90 remains from milepost 34, North Bend to milepost 106, Ellensburg, milepost 85 Cle Elum, and milepost 71 Easton is closed both directions, due to high avalanche danger on Snoqualmie Pass...
This morning's treacherously icy roads are a good pre-Christmas reminder for holiday travelers: If you want to get where you're going safely, check the conditions, allow plenty of time and slow down.
