Telltale Explains Why Game of Thrones Will Be 6 Episodes Long
The talented team members at Telltale Games explain why their upcoming Game of Thrones adventure series will span six episodes instead of the studio's usual number of five.
There are many questions being asked about Telltale Games' upcoming Game of Thrones series, many pertaining to its number of episodes. During an interview with IGN, Game of Thrones' Director of Design, Ryan Kauffman, and its Writer, Andrew Grant, were able to shed some light on why the series has six episodes as opposed to the usual five we have seen with its other games, such as The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us.
“As we got into it, we realized the arc was well-suited to a six-episode arc, with the first episode doing a lot of heavy lifting in introducing who these playable characters are,” Grant said. “Let’s give you a chance to know them, and grapple a little bit with the initial dilemma.”
While this doesn't confirm if there will be a second season or not, we're glad to see Game of Thrones getting the treatment it deserves.
“There’s a huge problem in House Forrester. Figuring out how you’re going to solve it, how you’re going to deal with it, that’s Episode 1." he added. "It’s like the big-bang explosion. Everything rolls out from there for the rest of the season, and each episode has a really natural, awesome way to tell a more epic story than we really tell.”
Spoilers: House Forrester isn't a perfect place, just like every other House between the Wall and the land of Dorne.
“Our characters are feeling the impact of what we’ve experienced and seen in the show, it felt like six episodes, given the scope and scale, was the right thing," said Kauffman.
The first episode of Game of Thrones, 'Iron From Ice,' will be debuting soon on PC, iOS, Android, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. Expect 'Iron From Ice' to launch before the end of the year.
