One of the things the internet has taught us is that there are a whole lot of dumb criminals out there. Add 21-year-old Benjamin Sickles to the list.

The Washington, PA. man decided to rob his local Subway early Thursday morning. But while he was able to enter the fast food joint by breaking through the glass, he didn’t account for the cash register being locked.

After realizing that he wasn’t going to be able to make off with the cash he desired, he did what he obviously thought was the next best thing. He grabbed nine bags of potato chips and fled. (We guess he also couldn’t figure out how to get to the cookies.)

Now carrying nine bags of chips isn’t easy, especially when you have a bloody hand. So the mastermind started dropping the chips, providing the cops with a Hansel-and-Gretel-like path right to him.

Sickles was arrested and is being held at Washington County Prison on $30,000 bail, which we assume is due to the damage caused to the restaurant, not his attack on defenseless crispy spud slices. It’s unclear if he ever got to eat any of the chips.
