An elderly Benton County man is the first person in our area to die after contracting the West Nile virus this summer, The Seattle Times reports.Apparently the man, who was in his 80s, contracted the disease near his home. He was hospitalized before he died.

According to The Times, 98 mosquitoes in Benton, Franklin, Grant, Walla Walla and Yakima counties have tested positive for West Nile virus this year.

This stuff is nothing to mess around with, but interestingly, but most people do not get sick when they contract the disease. Check out more on the West Nile virus and stay safe!
