Did you know that about 95% of American homes donate to charity in some way or another? Though that number may come as a shock to some, it should've be any surprise that Washington state is in the top 10 states that do the most charity work.

WalletHub came up with this list based on several criteria including donating money or time and several other factors.

Generosity in Washington (1=Biggest; 25=Avg.)
7th – Volunteer Rate
22nd – % of Donated Income
5th – % of Population Who Claim to Have Donated Time
18th – People Who Donated Money to Charity
25th – Growth in Charitable Giving (2012 vs. 2006)
5th – Number of Volunteering Hours per Capita
27th – Number of Charities per Capita

Based on this, Washington came in 8th place of the most charitable in the United States.

Our neighbors, Idaho and Oregon, also made this list coming in 3rd and 4th place, respectively.

Utah was first place. Good for them!

However, if you're California, Louisiana or Rhode Island, you've got some work to do. They rounded out the bottom of the list making them the least charitable.
