No late-night comedians could easily resist the call of the Republican and Democratic National Conventions, and it looks like SNL will be getting in on the fun as well. Long before Season 42 hits NBC, Colin Jost and Michael Che will bring special editions of Weekend Update to MSNBC for both events.

According to Vulture, Jost and Che will reprise their Weekend Update dynamic as early as July 20, airing at midnight on MSNBC to recap the events of the Republican National convention. A week later on July 27, the duo will do the same for the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

Not only that, but the SNL Weekend Update pair will also apparently serve as special correspondents for NBC’s Today on both those occasions as well. If the first day of the Republican National Convention’s events are any indication, they won’t be lacking for material.

You can check out the first new Weekend Update with Jost and Che’s special report this Wednesday on NBC, and stay tune for more on SNL’s return for Season 42 this fall.
