Washington is a pretty big state -- 71,297 square miles, as a matter of fact. And it includes plenty of room for the people in eastern Washington who have muttered for years about spitting off from the west side and starting their own state.

But why stop there? What if they started their own COUNTRY?

Well, thanks to the folks at SelfStorage.com, we can now see how Washington would measure up on an international scale. And to measure it in terms that are meaningful to the storage unit industry, if our new nation of Washington were a storage unit, what other countries could fit inside it?

Here are a few of SelfStorage.com's calculations:

You could fit two Austrias inside Washington. (Really, though, how many Austria's do you need?)

You could fit two and a half Irelands into Washington. (Great news for McGuire's Irish Restaurant and Pub!)

You could also fit North and South Korea in -- but thankfully, not at the same time. (And you thought the Ike-Davis rivalry was heated!)

Anyway, if you can fit it into your schedule, check this fun infographic for other startling geographic insights.
