Whitesnake's 2015 tour celebrating singer David Coverdale's time in Deep Purple will be commemorated with a new live album and concert film scheduled for release later this year.

The appropriately titled The Purple Tour, set to arrive in stores Nov. 24, is being made available in several different configurations, with fans able to choose between vinyl, digital and straight CD packages, as well as a CD/DVD or CD/Blu-ray edition that adds a concert video mixed in hi-res audio, band interviews, a music video and a handful of extra live audio tracks.

Insisting his aim was always to put a fresh spin on old material rather than try to supersede the original recordings, Coverdale explains, "We just wanted to play the damn songs. Each member of the band brought their incredible individual talents and a real band identity to this music. We’ve all done the best we can with this project with respect to the music, and the legacy of Deep Purple Mk3 and Mk4."

The Purple Tour, which is available to pre-order now, arrives in the midst of a flurry of band activity that includes a deluxe reissue of their breakthrough 1987 LP — and as Coverdale recently told Ultimate Classic Rock, the group's current lineup is also working on a new album of "extraordinarily positive, potent, juicy classic Whitesnake songs from balls to the wall to blues, to epics to ballads."
